Meanwhile, championship leader Cooper Webster claimed his first Sprint Race win of the year in Belgium before finishing seventh in the Feature Race.
After three rounds Webster holds a 34-point lead over his teammate Job at the top of the Drivers’ Standings, while Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing is sitting pretty with a sizeable lead in the Constructors’ Standings.
Having just missed out on pole position, it was clear from the start that Webster was eager to get past Mitchell de Jong quickly during the six-lap Sprint Race. After holding position at the start, Webster was on De Jong’s tail throughout the first lap before overtaking him into La Source as Lap 2 began. The move was simple enough, but crucially put the Australian in clean air at the front of the field.
Job, who had qualified in P10, made a similar move moments later, but in this instance managed to pass two cars in one go. The double overtake saw him move up to P8 and ahead of title rival Alejandro Sánchez, who tried to fight back down the Kemmel Straight but was unable to reclaim the position thanks to some robust defensive driving by Job.
The Brit then set about chasing down fellow championship challenger Luke McKeown and passed him on Lap 4 with a move into Les Combes. Job attempted to make further progress in the remaining two laps, but he would settle for a P7 finish and a front row grid slot for the Feature Race. As for Webster, he briefly came under some pressure from Chris Lulham but never had his lead seriously threatened on route a second race win of the season.
Starting the Feature Race, Job was briefly forced to hold off Kevin Nielsen on his left at Turn 1, before slipping in behind polesitter McKeown. Then, for the second time that day, Job out-dragged the Apex Racing Team driver down the Kemmel Straight to gain track position and this time take the lead of the race.
Elsewhere, Webster had remained in P8 at the start but was soon all over the back of De Jong ahead of him. The Australian was very briefly ahead on Lap 2 but was rebuffed and then attempted a daring manoeuvre at Pouhon to no avail.
His patience was finally rewarded on Lap 7 when Webster beat De Jong to the apex at the final chicane after pulling alongside the US driver through Blanchimont. Webster then ran wide at the exit of chicane, but still had the speed to hold onto the position and keep the determined De Jong at bay. The final few laps went by without incident and Webster took the chequered the race in P7, another solid result for the Aussie.
Out front, Job never faced any real peril as he delivered an incredibly professional drive to claim an 18th career win in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup. His exploits throughout the day earned him 64 points, second to only Lulham who podiumed in both races, and leave him on 144 after three race weekends.
Seb said: "Really happy to pick up my second feature win in a row! Completely bottled my qualifying lap, but luckily the pace was really good so in the sprint race I managed to gain 3 places and get into the reverse top 8. Race 2 was full push the whole way, 12 qualifying laps, however halfway through I had to manage the fuel slightly as I wasn't expecting to be in clean air the whole way. Made it a bit more stressful but luckily managed it okay, so very happy! Great to see ORBSR 1-2 in the standings too!"
